Ratings after Round 2 See the Bombers fly up, up

Posted in Ratings, and Tipping

If Round 1 was a display of lucking tipping, then Round 2 came around to show us all that you just can’t count on lady luck. Regardless of what some might think.

The bookies correctly predicted the result of a staggering total of 3 games this week. The Figuring Footy predictor (FFSS) did a little bit better, tipping the winner in 5 out of 9. FFSS got stung by Richmond throwing away what they had already won on Friday night, as well as Essendon, Gold Coast and GWS all causing upsets. (However it should be noted, FFSS had Essendon as MUCH better chances then anyone in the media had them.)

If you had followed every bet published last week you would have made a very small loss of -0.24 Units for the week. If Richmond had held on this would have been another healthy gain, but that’s footy.

Updated RatingsWeek 3 2016 FFSS Ratings

Looking at the FFSS ratings after Round 2 a few things jump out.

  • Hawthorn sit pretty at the top after proving themselves against West Coast on Sunday.
  • Fremantle are rapidly falling down the ratings ladder. FFSS never really rated Freo as the real deal, but after their offerings in the first two weeks of the competition, we see them heading towards a below average rating pretty quickly.
  • The flip side of the Freo equation. Gold Coast can now be considered a possible top-8 threat, similar to the likes of Collingwood.
  • Essendon may not be as bad as we thought they were. It’s still early in the season, and FFSS hasn’t had time to fully rate each team’s 2016 strength, but the Bombers sit in 15th place, a good 82 points above Brisbane.
